Sardinia: “6-legged” beaches

Travelling with your dog is a wonderful experience, visiting places with your four-legged friend is a different and wonderful adventure every time. When we go to the seaside, it is not always easy to identify where to take our furry friend to cool off with a bath or to play on the beach or to rest in the shade and enjoy a healthy moment of relaxation together.
We should always remember to pack everything we need for our pet, from the water bowl, to the food supplies, to the health booklet and various documents, and… a few toys that can also be useful on the beach, and always carry a hygiene kit.
For those travelling by plane or boat, there are no universal rules, but each company has its own policy. In Sardinia, in recent years, a lot has been done to welcome animals, and there are now about 36 beaches where you can bring your pet. All the beaches are open from 8.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m. During the day, however, you can access the Dog Beaches scattered along the coast.

Recently, the municipality of Villasimius made a portion of the Manunzas beach available to dogs. The first stretch of the beach will therefore be dedicated to four-legged animals, the area identified being that of the two coves named after the nearby Manunzas nuraghe.
